Offenses in Custody Introduction

When an offender commits an internal rule violation ("offense in custody"), the specifics of the incident as well as any disciplinary action taken are recorded on TAG.

  1. Recording an OIC: When an offense in custody occurs, you must first record the details of the incident and any charges against the offender. A single incident can generate multiple charges against offenders.

  2. Notice of a Hearing: The second stage is the scheduling of a hearing for the incident. There can be multiple hearings.

  3. Recording a Hearing: The third stage is the hearing's determination of the disposition of charges. The hearing will issue a finding for each charge and, where appropriate, stipulate a sentence. Multiple, separate penalties can be applied at the charge level, and linked to each other consecutively or concurrently.

  4. OIC Appeals: If the offender chooses to appeal his/her sentence, then the fourth stage is the offense in custody appeal process where appeal hearing dates are set, appeal results are recorded, and appeal penalties applied.
