(Community>Orders/Requests>Legal Cases)
In TAG, all the legal information on court orders is grouped together as a 'legal case'. A legal case can include everything that happens as a case passes through the legal system - arrests, court appearances, convictions, pre-sentence reports and/or sentencing, that is, supervision orders and the conditions surrounding them.
All of this begins on the Legal Cases screen. This screen has three blocks of information to be filled in during the progress of a case:
Cases: you create a case by recording the Case # or Information Reference # and assigning a case type, such as adult or juvenile. (Case types may be defined differently by different jurisdictions.)
Case Events: you record specific events in the case, such as the arrest, court conviction or probation action.
Offenses: you record the charges and track what happens to them for each event.
Steps in the Legal Cases sequence:
Step 1: learn how to record a case (starting with the Cases block in the Legal Cases screen).
Step 3 in the legal cases sequence: learn how to record offenses.
learn how to record a pre-sentence report.
