In the Offenses block, you record the charges for the case selected in the Cases block, and track what happens to the charges for each event.
From the Case Events block on the Legal Cases screen, click Next Block to access the Offenses block.
To list all the charges associated with the selected event, fill in the fields. Each different offense gets one line. You can have multiple counts of the same offense in the same line.
Offense/Description: type in an offense code; mandatory. If you know the code for the offense, type it in the Offense field and move to the next field with the Tab key or the mouse.
If you don't know the code, click on the List of Values to open the Valid Offenses pop-up window. The window lists all valid offenses in alphabetical order by description. If necessary, query to locate the offense you want. Once you have located it, click on the OK button. The window closes and the offense, statute and description appear in the Offenses block.
Type: select a type from the List of Values; optional.
Offense Date/Range: two fields to type in dates; optional. If the exact offense date is known, type it in the first date field using the MM\DD\YYYY format. If you only know that the offense occurred between two dates, type both dates.
Counts: type in the number of counts against the offender; mandatory. The number defaults to 1, and must be greater than zero.
Comment: type in a comment; optional.
Status: select from the List of Values; mandatory.
Click Save.
