You can use the Exact Search screen to locate offender records for institutional or community TAG work. Do an exact search when you know the offender’s last name and are sure of the spelling.
To access this screen from the Main Menu, select Search/assign Exact Search.
In the Header block, enter the offender’s Last Name. If you know the First/Middle Names and/or Year of Birth, enter them as well.
Click Find (Query). All offender records that match your search criteria display in alphabetical order in the Query Results block. TAG retrieves any active booking or, if no active booking exists, the booking with the most recent create (admit/intake) date.
Image checkbox: check to display the image of the selected offender.
The Institutional Booking block tells you if the offender is (or once was) in custody at an institution. If not, the block is blank. You can also see the offender's Working Name at the institution.
The Offender Profile block displays the most current gender and identifying demographics (as entered on the Assign Offender ID screen and edited on the Identification screen).
The Community Contact block tells you if the offender is (or once was) the subject of community work. If the Status is active, the Location field displays the office involved, or (if multiple offices are involved) the word "multiple." If the status is inactive, the location where the booking was discharged or closed is displayed. If there are no previous contacts, the block is blank. You can also see the offender's Working Name at the community location.
If you have found the correct offender record, click the name, then click Next Block. Depending on whether you are doing institutional or community work, this will take you directly to:
the Admission screen, where you can admit the offender to your institution,
OR
the Intake screen where you activate an offender record for community service staff work.
If you cannot find the correct offender record, you may want to try a partial, soundex or identifier search. When you are sure this offender has no prior record, click Quit/Exit to leave this screen. Go to the Assign Offender Number screen and assign this offender an ID#.
