Releasing an offender is a very simple process that involves only recording the date, time and reason for the event. TAG changes the status of released offenders from active-in to inactive-out, and reduces the institutional count by one. The system imposes these conditions on a release:
You cannot release offenders with unresolved court orders or warrants. Outstanding orders must be satisfied or cleared before TAG allows release.
If certain agencies or persons must be notified of the offender’s release, TAG alerts you to perform the notification before you release the offender.
Because release inactivates the offender’s record, you must return the offender’s property before you record the release. If you are running TAG Trust Accounting, you can close the account before or after the release.
If the offender is being released to bail, TAG records the bail posting before the release.
