(Community > Orders/Requests > Legal Cases)
This window groups associated offenders by assigning them a system-generated companion number. Once the companion number appears on one offender record, the same number automatically appears on the co-accused's record. This means that if offender B is named as a co-accused on offender A's record, after saving the number here, offender B's record will show offender A as a co-accused.
To open this window, click the Co-Accused button in the Cases block of the Legal Cases screen. The This Case block automatically displays any previously recorded names, that is, all other offenders already associated with the currently selected case. The All Cases block automatically displays all other offenders that have the current offender listed as a co-accused in one or more cases.
The cursor appears in the first field of the This Case block. To record a co-accused in the case selected on the Legal Cases screen, click the List of Values in the first field. This brings up the system-wide Name Search screen.
If necessary, query for the offender name. You can query on last name, first name or offender ID#.
Once you locate your offender, press the Enter key. The Name Search screen closes and the selected name appears in the Name field.
Click Save to save the record and generate a number in the Companion # field.
Repeat steps 2 to 5 to add more offenders.
If the name you are looking for isn't there, you can add the name by using the Other Persons button, or you can create a new offender record for the co-accused person on the Assign Offender Number screen.
