To move around TAG screens, you can click in the part of the screen you want to go to, or you can use TAG navigation commands. TAG breaks down its display of information into blocks, records and fields. You use different commands to move around each of these parts of the screen.
To move from field to field, press the TAB button. TAB moves you forward through the fields in a record, as shown in the example below. If you are in the last field of a record, TAB will move you back to the first field. If you press Shift+TAB, you move backward through the fields in a record.
Sometimes the cursor will not move to every field in a record. This is a safety device that protects against entry of inaccurate or unauthorized data-skipped fields may be fields that are editable only in special circumstances, fields that are not updatable on the screen you are viewing, or fields that are updated automatically by TAG.
Some other fields automatically default to an entry (for instance, a current date). In most cases, you can type over defaulted entries. Fields that have blue field names are mandatory. If a field is mandatory, you can't move ahead with the TAB key or select a different record or block until an entry is made.

The Previous Record button moves you up one record. If you are in the first record of a block, nothing happens. The up arrow key on the keyboard performs the same function. |
|
The Next Record button moves you down one record. If you are in the last record of a block, nothing happens. In the example above, the cursor would move to the second record of the Addresses block if you pressed Next Record. The down arrow key on the keyboard performs the same function. |

The Previous Block button moves you up one block. If you are in the first block, your cursor will usually loop around to the last block on the screen when you press Previous Block. In the example above, the cursor would move to the Header block. |
|
The Next Block button moves you down one block. If you are in the last block, your cursor will usually loop around to the last block on the screen. In the example above, the cursor would move to the block after the Addresses block when you press Next Block. If there were no more blocks on the screen, the cursor would move to the Header block. |
Normally, if you want to go from one screen to another, you have to leave the screen you are on, then select the new screen on the Main Menu. Some of the tasks you perform, though, will always require you to use two or more particular screens in a row. To simplify things, these screens will often be linked to each other so you can scroll from screen to screen using the Previous Block and Next Block commands. This link is known as a "formpath".
If the TAG screen you are on is part of a formpath, you will see arrows in the User Status bar. An up arrow in the User Status bar means you can use Previous Block from the first block of the screen to move back to the previous screen in the form path. This can be useful if you made a mistake in a task of several screens and have to go back. A down arrow in the User Status bar means you can use Next Block from the last block of the screen to move to the next screen in the formpath.
In the example above, there are both up and down arrows in the User Status bar, indicating that you can either move up to a previous screen with the Previous Block command, or down to the next screen with the Next Block command.
