Recording Recaptures

You record a recapture by admitting the offender back into your institution. When you do, the reason for admission will default to RE-CAPTURE. Later, you may also need to record the recapture details. When an offender is re-apprehended, recapture and readmission dates are entered against the Escape Registration number. TAG can then recalculate the offender’s key sentence and release dates to factor in the period the offender was AWOL. There are four steps to recording a recapture:

  1. Admit the offender (booking). This records the event date and time, and changes the offender’s status to Active-In. The reason for admission will default to RE-CAPTURE. You may want to review the booking information for the offender at this time.

  2. Record the recapture details.

  3. Confirm the duration of the escape period.

  4. Re-calculate the offender’s sentence.
