Step 2 of recording an escape.
Enter a detailed record of the escape on the Escape/Recapture screen and assign an Escape Registration number. When the offender is recaptured, TAG can recalculate the offender’s key sentence and release dates to factor in the period the offender was AWOL.
To use the Escape/Recapture screen:
To access this screen from the Main Menu, select Institutions Movements Escape/Recapt..
OR
Select Institution Case Management Escape/Recapt from the Main Menu.
If necessary, query in the Header block to locate the offender record.
Complete the Escape block:
Escape Date: record the date of the escape using a MM\DD\YYYY format.
Escape Time: record the time of the escape using an HH:MM format.
From Custody: click the List of Values, then select the agency that had custody of the offender at the time of the escape. (Optional.)
From Loc[atio]n: click the List of Values, then select the location where the offender escaped. (Optional.)
Circumstance: select from the List of Values; optional.
Incident Number: record the Incident Log number for the escape; optional.
Comment: record a brief detail of the escape incident; optional.
Last Seen Date and Time: record the date (standard date format) and time last seen; optional.
In Company checkbox: check if multiple offenders were involved in the escape; optional.
Adjust Sentence checkbox: check if a sentence adjustment will be necessary; optional.
Escape Registration Number: fill in your registration number for this escape; optional. (If this escape involves multiple offenders, use the same number on each offender’s escape record.)
Click Save.
Later, when the offender is recaptured, the system can recalculate key sentence dates to account for the period the offender was absent without leave.
The escape release must be recorded before you record the escape details. If the offender’s status isn’t Inactive-Out, you must perform step 1 of the escape procedure first.
