The Authority to hold the offender until the first court appearance is recorded on the Warrant Of Arrest screen. To enter an arrest warrant:
To access this screen from the Main Menu, select Institutions Legal Orders Arrest Order.
If necessary, query in the Header block to locate the offender record.
Click Next Block to access the Warrant Information block. If necessary, scroll to a blank record with the down arrow key, or click Insert Record.
Complete the Warrant Information block to record the circumstances of the arrest and key dates associated with the disposition of the warrant:
Type: List of Values available (Warrant of Arrest, Open Charge, etc.).
Info#: Enter the tracking number for the legal order (arrest number, case number). If there is no number, create one using your site’s format (institution acronym followed by number for each charge: i.e., SCI-1).
Custody: The period of time that the arrestee may be legally detained until first arraignment (i.e., 36 or 48 hour hold). At some sites this automatically appears when you select a Type.
Arresting Agency (optional): List of Values available.
Officer (Arresting Officer): Enter name of arresting officer.
Arrest Date: Defaults to current date. To change the date, enter another using a MM\DD\YYYY format.
Time of arrest: enter the time of the arrest using a HH:MM format.
Expiry Date of the order: Defaults to custody expiry date (calculated by TAG from the Custody period).
Arrest Reason: List of Values available.
BAC [Blood Alcohol Content]: Enter numerical amount, if applicable.
Ctrl [Controlling] Agency: Optional.
Offense Date: Optional date in standard date format.
Arrest Location: Optional text entry.
If the Expiry Date of the order is left blank, the warrant will not expire, unless deactivated at a later date.
If the arrest documents include a scheduled first court appearance, click Next Block to complete the Appearance block.
Court: List of Values available.
Judge: List of Values available.
Date: first date that the court is available for an arraignment; type in using standard date format.
Time: time of the court appearance.
Comment: free format field for additional commentary as needed.
You should click Save after completing this block.
Press Next Block to access the Charges block, and list the charges associated with this order. Scroll to a blank line with the down arrow key to record each charge.
Statute: List of Values available (to select Offence and Description).
Offense: List of Values available. You can scroll through the list or you can query on Description, Offense code, or Statute. (Press Enter Query, type in the offense you want to find, and press Execute Query.)
Type: List of Values available (felony or misdemeanor).
Bail: indicate (Y/N) whether bail is available for the offense.
Counts: enter the number of counts of this particular offence.
Click Save.
If there is more than one offense associated with this Info Number, arrow down to the next blank line and enter the charge information. Highlight your selection and click Save to carry that offense back to the Charges block.
If you have bail information to enter, Click Next Block to move to the Bail screen.
Scheduled court dates will now appear on the Scheduled Movements Inquiry screen.
Tip: Once the offender has appeared in court for the first time, additional court appearances may be scheduled on the Appearance Orders screen. To access this screen, click Next Block from the Charges block.
