Substance Abuse History

The Substance Abuse screen is one of many demographic screens used either when booking an offender into an institution, or when performing an intake on an offender for community work. The Substance Abuse screen records the offender's history of substance abuse and treatment.

The Substance Abuse screen is linked to the Substance Testing screen. If a substance not previously recorded on this screen is found in a positive test and recorded on the Substance Testing screen, then a line will automatically appear in this screen's Alcohol/Drug Use block listing the substance.

  1. For institutional work:select Institutions Case Management Substance Abuse to access this screen from the Main Menu.

    For community work: select Community Intake Substance Abuse from the Main Menu.

  2. If necessary, query in the Header block to locate the offender.

  3. Click Next Block to access the Alcohol/Drug Use block.

  4. The Alcohol/Drug Use block auto-queries to display existing entries in alphabetical order by substance. Only the Age First Used field can be modified. Records cannot be deleted.

    To record alcohol/drug use, complete the following fields:

  1. Click Next Block to access the Detail of Use block.

  2. The Detail of Use block auto-queries to display any previously entered data about the selected substance.

    To record details of use, complete the following fields:

  1. Click Save.

  2. Click Next Block to access the Treatments block.

  3. The Treatments block auto-queries to display offender treatment for the substance selected in the Alcohol/Drug Use block. Current or ongoing treatment (no End Date) is shown first, listed by Start Date (most recent first), followed by past treatment (records with End Date), also most recent first.

    To record treatments, complete the following fields:

  1. Click Save.

  2. Click Next Block to access the next screen in the booking or intake sequence.
