The Languages screen is one of many demographic screens used either when booking an offender into an institution, or when performing an intake on an offender for community work. The Languages screen records the offender's primary and secondary languages, and specifies if an interpreter is needed.
For institutional work: if you haven't used a formpath through the
booking sequence, select Institutions

For community work: if you haven't used a formpath through the intake
sequence, select Community

Menu.
If necessary, query in the Header block to locate the offender.
Click on Next Block to move to the Primary Language/English Comprehension block.
Fill in:
English Comprehension/Read/Write/Speak: select from the List of Values a rating for the offender's English reading, writing and speaking skills; optional.
Interpreter Required checkbox: check this checkbox if the offender requires an interpreter to communicate in English; optional.
Primary Language: select from the List of Values the offender's first language; mandatory. Defaults to English.
Primary Language/Read/Write/Speak: leave these checkboxes checked to indicate that the offender reads, writes and speaks the primary language; mandatory. These checkboxes default to checked (Yes).
Comment: type in a comment about the offender's language skills; optional.
To record any other language(s) that the offender knows, click on Next Block to move to the Secondary Languages block.
Fill in:
Language: select a secondary language from the List of Values; optional.
Read/Write/Speak: leave these checkboxes checked to indicate that the offender reads, writes and speaks the secondary language; optional. These checkboxes default to checked (Yes).
You can record any number of secondary languages by scrolling down to a blank line and repeating step 6.
Click on Save.
From the Secondary Languages block, click on Next Block to advance to the next screen in the booking or intake sequence.
