TAG is a computerized management system for storing and updating offender records in institutional and community correctional facilities. For each offender in its database, TAG can:
store a complete history of that offender's affairs with corrections organizations, covering each period of contact or incarceration (for repeat offenders)
allow any officer with the proper access privileges to immediately view a record or update it
help officers follow business rules by alerting them of problems and by managing their update options
transfer records to other facilities that are also using the system
report statistical and demographic information of the entire institutional or community population
However, TAG is not a substitute for the policies and procedures of your institution or jurisdiction. The information in the system is not in itself a legal instrument, and the authority to hold an offender in custody or to provide community supervision rests solely on signed legal documents.
