Records

Records are the actual information entered into the TAG database, such as addresses or contact names, that you will access. TAG's blocks are organized so they show exactly one type of record at a time, and these records are displayed in one of two distinctive ways.

If the information will fit on one line across the screen, TAG stacks the records one on top of the other, and highlights the currently selected record in green. In the example below, the addresses in the Addresses block are stacked, with 1515 71st Avenue on the first line, and 781 Oak Street on the second line. When items are stacked this way, field names appear above the fields, and a scrollbar appears to the right of the fields.

If the information can't fit on one line, TAG shows just one record in the block and indicates in the second line of the status bar if there are more records. In the example above, the following hint text appeared in the status bar when the cursor was in the DOC# field in the Header block (the block without a title):

If TAG doesn't know how many records match your criteria, it displays a question mark for the total number of records. TAG replaces the question mark with the count once you scroll to the last record of your query:

When a block shows only one record at a time, field names usually appear to the left or right of the fields, and the currently selected record is displayed. When a block shows many records at a time, field names appear above the fields, and the currently selected record is highlighted in green.
