(Community > Orders/Requests > Legal Cases)
With the Combine Cases window, you can combine two legal cases together to create one case. This is useful when a judge decides to issue one probation order that covers convictions on two legal cases.
When you copy Case B into Case A, TAG automatically copies Case B events and offenses into Case A. Case A keeps an Active status, and Case B takes on a Combined status.
You cannot combine more than two cases, and you cannot combine a case that has orders, requests, and conditions attached to it.
To open this window, click the Combine Cases button in the Cases block of the Legal Cases screen.
Fill in these fields:
Copy Case/Info #: select from a List of Values the case that you want to copy into another case; mandatory. The list includes all offender cases except those already combined.
Into Case/Info #: select from a List of Values the case that will have the other case copied into it; mandatory. The list includes all offender cases except those already combined and the case in the previous field.
Location: select from a List of Values the location (court) where one probation order was issued to cover the convictions of two legal cases.
Click Save. The events and offenses from case being combined (the first field) are copied into the case remaining active (the second field).
Click Exit to return to the Legal Cases screen.
In the Legal Cases screen, click Save.
Case A has an Active status, and displays the combined events and offenses of both Case A and Case B.
Case B has a Combined status.
TAG automatically fills in a line in the Case Events block with the date, time, etc. when the combination took place.
